Old School Books

I love books. Maybe you do, too. I find old books interesting. Their content, size, shape, illustrations, even titles tell us about the times in which they were produced. Old school books give us insight into what was taught and perhaps how it was taught in the past. We have a grouping of such books up for auction. I will give a list since titles are difficult to see in the picture. They are in amazing shape for their age ( considering that they went back and forth to school most likely).

  • 8 books from Instructor Literature Series c.1912, Famous Artists, Three Billy Goats Gruff and Other Old-Time Stories, Little Wood Friends, Poems Worth Knowing Book II, Story of Florence Nightingale, Great European Cities Part II Rome and Berlin, Four Little Cotton Tails in Winter, Stories of Heroism (no cover)
  • Record : blank notebook, dated 1911 on cover (what a cover!)
  • Medial Writing Book c.1901 Ginn & Company, penmanship, written in
  • Progressive Course in Spelling Complete by J.N. Hunt  c. 1910, American Book Company
  • Coleridge’s Ancient Mariner c.1900 D. Appleton and Company
  • Lincoln -Abraham Lincoln and His Last Resting Place, A leaflet published for distribution at the National Lincoln Monument in the city of Springfield, Illinois, compiled by Edward S. Johnson, Custodian 1912
  • The Young Coasters, Profusely Illustrated, W.B. Conkey Company, some damage
  • Sit Lux Composition Book, hand written on cover Jan-May 1920 Miss Russell, 4a Nature Study, Writing about birds and pasted in clippings
