Vintage Telephone
We take instant communications for granted these days. With cell phones, email, social media, bluetooth, and probably some I don’t even know about, sending messages quickly is easy. That has not always been the case. Bell applied for his telephone patent in 1876. That was almost 150 years ago. Things have certainly changed since then. The switchboard, party line, and even land lines have disappeared or are disappearing. I have seen videos of teens that are unable to use a rotary dial phone. I know how to do that, but I don’t think I could successfully use the phone we have on our General Auction. I am not sure of its age but hand crank tells you something.
I am told this is a working phone. (Or at least it was) It has not been modified. The condition is very good overall. There is a name plate that says Chicago Telephone, Cupply Company, Elkhart, Indiana, U.S.A.
