It’s a Silent Auction
SHHHH!
It’s a silent auction. Don’t say a thing. I mean don’t tell anyone what you are bidding. Go ahead and tell everyone about the Silent Auction at the Northern Michigan Relief Sale. Friday afternoon is the time for the Silent Auction. If you have never been involved in a Silent Auction here is how it works. There is no auctioneer. All the items up for bids are displayed with bidding sheets. After you register, you walk around the items and write down what you want to bid on any particular item. Keep checking on the items you are interested in because the bid may be raised by someone else. You can keep on raising your bid until the stated time for the end of the auction. If you have the highest bid, you pay for the item and it is yours. Even though the bidding is silent there is still a lot of healthy competition for many of the items.
If you are a collector or like older glass and crystal check out the Silent auction this year. I have a pretty good idea that you will find some great pieces to add to your collection. Of course there will be other interesting things to bid on as well. I have seen some things that may make it into the Silent Auction. How about sports cards, old hankies, Beanie Babies, an old cookbook, lighthouses, a cute lamp? You never know until you check it out what will be up for bids. There are always many new items that could become great gifts. Make sure you take a look at the items in the Silent Auction. Bid Silently and Win!
