Fabulous Intarsia
Once again we have some fabulous Intarsia for our General Auction. What is Intarsia you may ask. That is a good question for many. Intarsia is a woodworking technique that is really art. It is the inlaying of a variety of woods to create a 3-D picture. The natural variations in wood grain and color create the illusion of depth and texture enhancing and ensuring the beautiful and balanced finished piece. No stains are used. All of the woods are seen in their natural color. That is part of the beauty. Everything is then sealed with a clear finish. The maker of these pieces has been making Intarsia art for about 20 years. He has donated many pieces to Relief Sales (including ours) and other charitable organizations. You have seen his work if you have attended the Northern Michigan Relief Sale before.
