Changes Do Happen
As with any event, some things will become traditional. They are always there. They are always done the same way. However, as time passes, some things inevitably need to change. We will have some changes at the Northern Michigan Relief Sale this year. Some of these changes may be temporary. Some of them may be permanent.
The first change is the loss of a long time favorite. The Bean Soup on Friday evening will not be available this year. The old bean cooker finally breathed its last. It has been repaired and coaxed along the last few years. It finally is unusable. No suitable replacement has been found. So no bean soup this year. Perhaps a new one will be found for use another year.
There will be no Chicken Dinner served on Saturday this year. No one was available to head this up and we were unsure of the state regulations by August at the time of the decision. Again perhaps another year. Someone needs to step forward to be in charge of the dinner for it to return to the sale.
No Silent Auction this year. The person that organizes the Silent Auction cannot be at the sale this year. Look for this to return next year. There may be a small silent auction, but at this time plans for that are uncertain.
Again we don’t know exactly what the state regulations will be in August. Right now the promise is for all restrictions to be lifted. Hopefully that will be the case. There could still be some health related changes at the sale. More sanitizing, one way traffic, spaced out seating, outdoor dining could be happening. Our goal is for everyone to be safe. Come and participate as you feel comfortable. Keep the feelings of others in mind as well. As always, help us in supporting MCC.
See you in August!
