Blessings of Water
Think what your life would be like without water. Living in Michigan, we have no idea what being far from water is like. Water is something we have in abundance . It is readily available to us anytime we want it. Just turn the tap and there it is. Our water is clean and safe to drink. Those conditions do not exist in many places in the world. We can help others to have clean safe water through Blessing Bids. MCC has projects in Mozambique, Tanzania, Cambodia, Palestine, Nepal, India, and Kenya. Wells, cisterns, and water purification are among the ways they help people in areas of need acquire clean water.
We are privileged to have the traveling Water Quilt at our sale again this year. It will be displayed throughout the sale. Blessing Bids will be taken to help with projects that provide safe drinking water to people in places where there is none.
This year’s Water Quilt was made by Connie Lapp of Ephrata, Pennsylvania. The symbols used on the quilt are a reminder of how we use water and the reasons to be good stewards of our water resources. Farmers and others use water to grow food in fields and vegetable gardens . Turtles and fish need the waters of our oceans, lakes and rivers. Raindrops, clouds, and snowflakes symbolize the forms of water in nature. Beach umbrellas, tents, and canoes represent the ways we use water for recreation. Tea is a beverage made with water and is also an international symbol of hospitality.
Water is life. Without it we perish.
Check out the Water Quilt and plan on bidding to help others enjoy the gift of water.
