2020 No Sale
This is really hard to say. There will not be a Northern Michigan Relief Sale at the Oscoda County Fairgrounds this year. With all the uncertainty surrounding the Corona Virus, we have made the decision to cancel the traditional sale this year. The chances that we could even be able to meet in August are unknown.
I’m sure that many of you are disappointed at this announcement. Be assured that we are as well. If there was a good and safe way to hold the sale as usual, we would do it. The obstacles to a sale in August are just too many.
That being said, we do have hope. The reason for the Northern Michigan Relief Sale is to raise money for MCC (Mennonite Central Committee) That can still happen. Their needs have continued or increased with the advent of this virus. Most sales in the US have had to cancel. This results in fewer dollars going to MCC. We are committed to finding ways to still help fund the work of MCC around the world. In the next few months we will let you know of ways you can help. There may be online auctions or giving opportunities. Your local church may hold events. The plans are just beginning.
Keep looking for information about chances to support MCC. We will try to continue to inform you on this website and the Northern Michigan Relief Sale Facebook page.
It’s different this year. It is difficult for many this year. But remember that God is in control of all the circumstances surrounding this virus. He will bring us through. There may be things we learn as we rely on His loving care for us.
