2017 Blessing Bids

The Northern Michigan Relief Sale is the place to go on the first Saturday in August. It’s fun. You see family and friends. There are beautiful quilts and other things to purchase. The food is really yummy. However, those are not the purpose of the sale. As great as the weekend is there is a greater reason behind the sale. As the name says, RELIEF is the real purpose. Helping, through MCC, those without basic needs is what it is all about.

Blessing Bids will happen again in 2017. You can bid during the auction ( morning and afternoon) or donate any time at the cashier’s window.

Water is something we take for granted. Not so in many parts of the world. Your bid of $150 will help to dig a well. $300 will be used to pipe water into a home thus saving hours of labor and insure cleaner water for a family. Water pipes for irrigation of crops is a $30 donation. Thank God that you live in a place with plenty of clean water and help those where water is scarce and not always fit to drink.

Health and Hygiene are a part of our daily lives. Good practices in sanitation are not universal nor well understood in many places. A hand washing station for an elementary school is a $50 bid. Giving someone access to health care is a $30 donation. Thank God for your knowledge of cleanliness and ability to get health care and help others to have the same advantage.

Planting Trees in Haiti is continuing. Trees help hold the soil in place. Previous tree planting saved villages after Hurricane Matthew. $100 will help the planting program to replace more trees and improve the landscape. Thank God for our conservation practices locally and help those who are trying to show others.

Income is necessary to live and raise a family wherever you are. MCC works in many countries to help families earn money through raising animals. $750 is needed for one cow ($50 for 1/15 share). $200 buys one sheep with a lamb ($100 for 1/2 share). Thank God for our nation’s farmers and help farmers in other countries.

Where Needed Most  When a disaster happens the needs vary. The situation dictates what relief is given. This bid of $25 goes toward the urgent needs that occur following an event. Thank God for our emergency response agencies and help those who are thrown into unplanned situations.

Can you help MCC with these ongoing programs? It’s what we are all about.
