Blessing Bids 2015
Time now for the serious business of the Northern Michigan Relief Sale. We put on this sale in order to help others. The money raised here is sent to MCC (Mennonite Central Committee). They use it around the world in areas of need. Every year there are Blessing Bids. This is money donated for a particular cause. You do not get a material object for this bid. You do get satisfaction that you have helped someone who is in a desperate situation. There will be two times of Blessing Bids this year. One in the morning the second in the afternoon. Donations may also be made at the cashier window at any time.
The morning Blessing Bids are as follows: $500 or $250 for Sand Dams in Africa. Sand dams help provide reliable clean water to villages that do not have a good source of water. $450 for School Water Purification Kits. This funds a purification unit for one school to cut down on waterborne diseases. $150 or $300 for Global Family Focus on Education. This gives scholarships to students that otherwise could not afford to attend school. $300 for Shipping Relief, Hygiene, Infant Care, Sewing, and School Kits. These kits are sent around the world to help people with daily living during times of stress.
In the afternoon the Blessing Bids will focus on relief for the people of Nepal who were affected by the earthquakes earlier this year. MCC has workers there. They are in place and are able to help. MCC has committed to $500,000 in relief, but will send more if designated donations come in. Here is your chance to help them do that. $32 to feed a family of 5 for a week. $64 to purchase bedding for a family. $25 for basic family needs (large tarp, health kit, soap, water purification tablets, and hygiene supplies) $150 for locally purchased materials for house construction before winter comes. $25 to be used to help with any most needed emergency.
Please consider what you can do to help.
