Blessing Bids 2025
The Northern Michigan Relief Sale has done Blessing Bids for a number of years. Blessing Bids are a way of helping others without acquiring a tangible item. These donations go directly to help in areas of need. It is true giving from the heart. You get the satisfaction of assisting someone you do not even know to better their life. Many of us want to help others, but we don’t want to add anything to our already full houses. Blessing Bids allow you to do just that. MCC (Mennonite Central Committee) uses the proceeds from these bids to fund specific projects around the world. Each year a few projects are chosen by our sale. If you are interested in what MCC does and stories from other countries, visit www.MCC.org for more information.
Here are this year’s Blessing Bids:
- Building Up Small Farms in Haiti – $85- Families receive seeds, seedlings, breeding goats, farming tools, and training. They can feed their family and secure an income.
- Farming Tools for Women in Chad – $65- Two to three households share farming tools. With MCC assistance they work together to increase production and raise livestock to provide for their families.
- Children’s Nutrition in Ethiopia – $75- Improving nutrition for mothers and malnourished children under 5 with teaching of life skills and supplemental food for a year.
- Clean Water Access for Indian Villages – $100- Clean spring water is piped into villages for the very first time. Farmers can irrigate in the dry season to provide food for their families. Hygiene practices are also improved.
- Clean Water in Mozambique – $100- To address water scarcity and unsafe water resources. Boreholes are being drilled and rehabilitated to help 30 communities.
- Empowering Farmers and Uniting Neighbors in Rwanda- $40- Farmers are trained in conservation agriculture. They receive a goat/sheep to make money for family needs. If the animal has offspring, they share the firstborn with a neighbor and keep or sell the rest.
- Teaching Masonry in India – $50- Men receive masonry training and tools. This helps them earn more and reduces migration and family conflict.
- Food Baskets for Palestine – $100 – Food packets for displaced individuals and families in Gaza. Emergency food includes staples such as rice, sugar, lentils, pasta, canned beans and meat, chickpeas, cooking oil, and dates.
Please consider helping out with one of these projects. We are so blessed to live where we do with all the resources and help that we have available to us. Many people around the world are less fortunate. We can bless them through MCC.
