Blessing Bids | Northern Michigan Relief Sale

One of the most impactful parts of the Northern Michigan Relief Sale Auction is the Blessing Bids. At all other spots in the sale, you pay and receive an item of some sort. The Blessing Bids are different. You bid and give but you do not get an item. You are giving out of your generous heart to bless others. The Blessing Bids change each year. They are taken during the morning Auction and again in the afternoon. Different choices are offered each time. You can also donate to the Blessing Bids at any time at the Cashiers Window.

The morning Blessing Bids are:

Emergency Food Package -$75- MCC is working in Ukraine. This gift provides much needed sustenance in this war-torn land. Many families rely on an MCC partner for food packages and cooked meals.

Wells in Ethiopia -$100- ($6,000 for a full well) A well provides much needed clean water instead of water from contaminated sources. This gift improves the lives of families and whole villages.

Peace and Healing for Children in Syria -$25- Young children learn peace skills, resolving conflict, and building healthy relationships to build a future beyond war. Syria’s children can then look forward to a brighter future.

Sewing Machines -$150– Graduates of an MCC supported program in South Sudan learn to sew clothing in order to earn money to provide for their families.

The afternoon Blessing Bids are:

MCC Disaster Response -$100– MCC is currently responding to more than a dozen urgent humanitarian crises around the world. People are caught in conflicts in Syria, South Sudan, Ukraine, DR Congo, and other places. Your gift helps the right emergency supplies get to those in greatest need.

Creating Agroecological Gardens in Haiti -$50- These projects support farmers with seeds, tree seedlings and silos for storage. Each year 150 farmers partner with MCC for support in year round crop production. Your gift helps families become financially stable and combat hunger.

Give a Goat in India -$65- MCC helps a family in need by providing a goat. Raising adaptable, sturdy goats and learning marketing skills helps expand income through sales of dairy products.

Nutrition for Young Children in South Sudan -$40– Nutrient dense supplements of corn soya blend and moringa powder enrich the porridge given to malnourished children. This ensures sufficient food for optimal growth and development.
