Antique Redwork Quilt
Do you have a love of history? Are you interested in old needlework? Are antique quilts your thing? Then we have a find for you.
An antique redwork quilt is offered up for auction at the Northern Michigan Relief Sale on August 5, 2023. Redwork is embroidery done in red on white fabric. This quilt has historical pictures and places on it. The center four blocks feature the lately assassinated, President William McKinley, and the new President, Theodore Roosevelt , along with their wives. Incredibly fine detail in the stitching. It was done for the Pan-American Exposition of 1901. That was a kind of World’s Fair held in Buffalo, New York.
The donors grandmother, Wilamenia Kline Dax, received it from her aunt who attended the Exposition. It was then passed down to her mother and then to her. She would like someone who appreciates fine antique quilts to enjoy it now. That could be you!
This quilt has never been washed, so the colors of both the embroidery and the red fabric are still bright. There is only one small water stain. Amazing for over 120 years of existence.
Be sure to check out all the details of this intriguing antique quilt. And be ready to bid on this piece of history.
